Overview:

Our client, a licensed producer of medical and recreational cannabis products, is in need of a Quality Control Specialist to join their Ville St Laurent team.  Job summary

As a member of the Quality Assurance team, the position is responsible for standard and regulatory compliance with respect to GPP, Cannabis Regulations, and company SOPs

 Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist production and operations in drafting, writing, and implementing SOPs that comply with Cannabis Regulations and GPP
  • Complete documentation review including production batch records and other forms as needed
  • Assigning and implementing effective CAPA to promote continuous improvement
  • Perform daily qualitative and quantitative checks on in-coming materials, in-process procedures, and finished products according to established product specifications, SOPs, and Health Canada requirements
  • Facilitate training sessions and on-the-job training for personnel, visitors, and contractors as required on Company SOPs and verify training results
  • Assist with the tracking of metrics around compliance and efficiency and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Participate in both internal and external audits as required
  • Fulfilling internship program requirement as per school’s requirements (if applicable)
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications

  •  Relevant Post Secondary Education preferably in the areas of Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Plant Sciences, Agriculture or related discipline as an asset
  • Functional bilingualism English/French
  • Technical writing ability such as but not limited to SOPs, Reports and Investigation Summary
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP software (ERP software, MS Office, and others)

 

Experience

  • Previous work experience in third-party audits or governmental audits, such as CFIA, Health Canada, USDA, FDA, GFSI, BNQ, etc.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems including batch record review, batch release, document control, change control, deviations, investigations and CAPA
  • Experience working in a cannabis, pharmaceuticals, food production or manufacturing environment is an asset
