About the Role: The Director of Packing and Warehouse Operations will work collaboratively with multiple departments within Operations in order to ensure that all activities related to the fully compliant harvesting, freezing, packaging and storage of raw biomass are performed to precise standard operating procedures (SOPs). Specifically, the Director will be responsible for managing and coordinating these activities in coordination with both the Cultivation Director, Manufacturing Director and Track & Trace personnel in order to ensure that biomass is processed and stored according to ISO standards for warehouse management. This means that you already have a basic understanding of the ISO certification standards. Additionally, a successful candidate will bring to this position a deep understanding of lean and continuous improvement principles, to include root cause analysis, 6S Audits, waste reduction and lean inventory management. Finally, the Director will need to be an innovative thinker when it comes to integration of automation and inventory management technologies, as well as enterprise resource management systems. This position reports directly to the VP of Agriculture Operations. What You'll Do + Lead the process for continually improving and integrating technologies associated with the processing and storing of raw plant biomass in a temperature controlled, cryogenic environment. + Be responsible for ensuring that packing and warehousing operations are fully integrated and highly communicative with the other directorates and departments. This includes participation in the planning and preparation of farming operations to ensure seamless and legally compliant movement of raw materials between the Cultivation, Manufacturing and Warehouse directorates. + Lead your team in becoming experts at the laws and rules associated with the receipt, processing, transportation and storing of raw plant biomass in a regulated environment. + Work with the VP of Agriculture Operations to build/develop a team of managers and supervisors that will both understand and execute the strategy for your organization. + Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds + Be responsible for building and delivering on an annual MBO strategy deck, KPIs, hiring strategy and fiscal budget, while also ensuring these things fully align with the broader corporate strategy + Lead your directorate for the introduction and integration of technologies that provide value to the organization through automation, labor reduction and overall process improvement + Be responsible for ensuring that all team members are appropriately trained to do their jobs safely in a fast-paced processing environment + Be an expert problem solver, willing and able to collaborate with peers, managers and direct reports in stressful situations with hard deadlines + Develop, refine and be responsible for the integration of preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment within your area of responsibility + Work closely with the engineering department, from the design phase through acceptance testing for all new and current systems/technologies, ensuring they’re integrated safely and on schedule + Be able to communicate clearly and concisely at the strategic level with senior leadership, while also communicating respectfully and effectively to direct reports and more junior staff members + Be an organizational leader in the company’s core values of Teamwork, Innovation, Integrity and Process + Lead your team in the development, vetting, regular auditing and implementation of all SOPs, work instructions and checklists towards the goal of department wide standardization + Work with the Manufacturing, Cultivation and Engineering departments on the continual development of advanced packaging solutions + Work cross functionally and cross departmentally as part of a planning and integration team for the design and construction of a new packing and warehousing facility What You'll Need to Have + Excellent organizational management and attention to detail in a fast-paced ops environment + Must have at least 6-10 years experience as a senior leader in a warehousing, manufacturing or supply chain type role. + Experience with GMP and/or food safety in a regulated environment + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Bachelor’s Degree + Working proficiency as a Spanish/English bilingual speaker is preferred.
