The Procurement Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations/Finance. Will have overall responsibility for the company's non-commodity materials with the primary focus on packaging and raw materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute an effective strategic sourcing plan, to create synergies that will drive lower costs, and enables efficient sourcing and contracting in a fast-paced environment.
Manage timely strategic sourcing events, negotiate supply agreements and contracts to ensure lowest cost and supply continuity
Work closely with the Company’s cost accounting manager to develop, measure and maintain standard costs that will serve as budget and the benchmark for purchase price variance analysis and reporting.
Manage and maintain the materials resource planning (MRP) module of the Company’s ERP system. Maintain proper inventory levels for all items using standard re-order point methodologies.
Partner with operations and manufacturing plants to determine necessary inventory levels and purchasing volume that will meet customer demand and production schedules.
Eliminate/minimize packaging and ingredient obsolescence
Keep up with current purchasing trends and regulatory policies by taking courses, attending seminars/webcasts, networking with other purchasing professionals and reading relevant material.
Participate in new projects involving functional areas such as R&D, Operations, Sales and Marketing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequently required to walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use distance vision; depth perception.
Occasionally required to climb, stand or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.
work in wet or humid conditions, in high places and outdoor weather conditions; exposed to fumes or airborne particles
EXPERIENCE
Certified Purchasing Manager status preferred, including a strong background in material management and/or plant operational experience is a plus.
Must be experienced in strategic sourcing and have a proven background of successful Procurement strategy implementation.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to determine and explain usage and pricing variances.
Proficiency in MS Office software, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Experience with large ERP systems that use an MRP module is strongly preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in procurement is preferred.
EDUCATION
B.S. / B.A. degree in supply chain management or equivalent is strongly preferred.
