Job Description

Our client, a Leader in Cannabis Distribution throughout California, is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to join their team. The Director will play an important role helping to build operations aspects relative to multi-state expansion.

Reporting to the head of strategic relationships, this role will be tasked with ensuring that all business activities deliver results aligned with mission and strategy. The successful candidate understands all aspects of business operations and utilizes this knowledge to support extensive and sustainable growth.


  • Oversee multi-state operations and business activities to ensure desired results and consistency with overall strategy and mission
  • Project manage new product rollouts in each market
  • Project manage the supply chain of all materials (packaging, hardware, terpenes, marketing materials) to all markets
  • Coordinate product and packaging changes required by local rules
  • Create forecasts and timelines for each product in each market
  • Oversee quality control process in each market to ensure everything released by partners under the company’s brands meets the company’s high quality thresholds
  • Work closely with the Head of Multi-State Sales to accomplish company goals 
  • Develop business strategies and plans aligned with short-term and long-term objectives
  • Assist other business units with identifying and managing key strategic relationships (including assisting in contract negotiations)
  • Devise strategies to ensure growth of programs enterprise-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximize output and minimize costs
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of the cannabis industry and the diverse markets it serves
  • Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and internal policies to maintain legality and consistency
  • Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions or improvements
  • Manage in depth insight on the market's competitive landscape, including comprehensive analysis
  • Serve as the face of the company within different states for key business development, partnerships, and government relations opportunities
  • Build relationships with all departments in order to leverage internal centers of expertise to support expansion
  • Review and report localized market industry trends to leadership team
  • Help problem-solve customer issues, respond to inquiries in a timely manner and promote a positive customer service experience
  • Create a comprehensive roadmap and strategy for the entire operations organization, and implement appropriate metrics and reporting
  • Create actionable plans for growth
  • Analyze both the short and long-term needs of the company's operations strategy and design/enable tactics to fulfill operational needs
  • Will travel to various states, events, etc. to meet with business partners, employees, vendors, etc.

  • Research partner opportunities in each market
  • Engage and present to target partners
  • Assist in contract negotiations
  • Project management entire process
  • Manage the monthly business objectives with each major business partner


  • Prior experience in the cannabis industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field | MBA a plus
  • Proven experience as Director of Operations or other managerial position within a rapidly growing start-up environment
  • General knowledge and understanding of the cannabis cultivation, product manufacturing, and the cannabis regulatory environment
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Solid track record with scaling and growth
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent management/leadership ability and experience managing teams
  • Demonstrable competency in planning and business development
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Available and willing to travel 33% of the time

 Compensation: $120 -$140K plus benefits
