Job Description

Our client, a top cannabis sales and distribution company in San Diego, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their expanding team.

The Accounting Manager will be initially responsible for the auditing and cleanup of the corporate accounts, therefore previous senior audit experience is required.  Other responsibilities include all accounting functions, preparing financial statements, compliance, cash flow reporting, banking relationships, AP/AR , payroll, cash handling, inventory management, audit controls, cash flow modeling and must be able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Job Responsibilities and Description:

  • Audit the existing corporate accounting books, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Establish, modify, document, and maintain Accounting control policies and procedures.
  • Cash management, budgeting and financial reporting
  • Set up vendors and process weekly accounts payables, while reviewing invoices for consistency and within budget
  • Building and managing financial models
  • Processing weekly Accounts Receivable
  • Act as liaison between CPA to file taxes and finalize tax return
  • Collaborate internally and externally to ensure taxes are filed and audits are completed
  • Assist with weekly cash forecasting and reporting process.
  • Insurance requirements including General Liability, Workers Compensation and Health
  • General HR responsibilities such as onboarding and payroll

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public Accounting experience a plus
  • Expert level QuickBooks Pro and Excel skills are a must
  • Previous experience with cannabis accounting and 280E is preferred
  • Cost accounting experience is preferred
  • Cash handling, Inventory Management experience
  • Proven time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and able to work independently or as a member of a team

Compensation: $85K - $115K Base Salary
