Position Overview

This critical position as The Post-Harvest Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Harvest and Trim departments, maintaining process efficiency, accurate record keeping and ensuring that all Harvest and Trim Technicians are allocated appropriately to maximize production. This person is responsible for all harvesting and trimming of cannabis within the facility. Additional responsibilities include; maintaining an accurate inventory, communicating any issues to the Director of Cultivation and meeting production goals by supporting Harvest and Trim Technicians, including all Leads. Furthermore, the Post-Harvest Manager should identify areas for process improvement and can effectively present action plans to management.

 

Essential Job Functions

       Complete periodic departmental audits as needed; complies with related record-keeping requirements including movement logs, waste logs, and task assignments

       Maintain virtual and physical inventory of harvested flower while ensuring accuracy of tagging flower and trim in METRC/Trellis while coordinating with Cultivation Inventory Manager to ensure all harvested rooms are accurately resolved in METRC/Trellis

       Manage post-harvest operations by maximizing process efficiency that includes but is not limited to:

o   Burping logs & adherence to burping/curing procedures

o   Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies that reflects the needs of the department

o   Establish clear criteria for categorization of flower with Harvest Technicians (tops, lowers, larf, etc…)

o   Create and disseminate weekly harvest reports which includes plant health, flower quality, notable terpene profiles, seeding, etc. for each flower room 1 week prior to harvest.

o   Ensure waste is logged and allocated accordingly

o   Work with Trim and Harvest Leads to ensure the accuracy all data to be logged into METRC

o   Provide daily updates to the Cultivation Inventory Manager on the status of harvest and dry rooms

       Ensure the following is handled properly by Trim Technicians:

o   Monitor the handling of all product being trimmed, cured or otherwise processed, emphasizing mindful handling for trichome preservation

o   All trimming equipment, tools and machinery are functional at all times

o   All trimming equipment, tools and machinery are clean and compliant when not in use

o   Make specific adjustments to trimming equipment to ensure process efficiency and equipment longevity

o   Ensure that work areas are clean, safe and compliant at all times

o   Ensure that end products meet quantity standards as established by the Director of Cultivation

o   Ensure all weights and labels are accurate on both the appropriate log and the physical label on the product

       Manage Trim Technicians by monitoring attendance, performance, and adherence to company policies and procedures; conducting annual performance evaluations; providing coaching and support; and corrective action as needed.

       Ensure Trim Technicians are meeting daily, weekly, and monthly production goals in order to satisfy production requirements:

o   Statistical tracking, duties, and progress updates for each Trim Technician

        Ensure that all Trim Technicians are capable of hand trimming at least 2 wet plants / hour

        Track Gram per Hour statistics

        Trim to flower ratio monitoring

        Batch turnaround progress

        Batch tracking sheets finalized as soon as batches are completed

        Plant batch inventories reconciled day before harvest

Requirements

       Must be at least 21 years of age

       Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management (Preferred)

       3-5 years of experience as a Trim department manager (Preferred)

       Proficient in Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft Office suite of products,

       Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holiday work

       Strong people management skills required

       Ability to resolve bottlenecks and production issues

       Ability to communicate ideas and resolutions in a clear, concise, friendly manner

       Strong written and verbal communication skills

       Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and manage time both independently as well as within a team environment

       Continuous Process Improvement mindset

       Must be able to pass an CCC background check

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance),
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk as needed
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, crouch in order to access equipment
  • Close visual acuity needed for viewing screens and fine print
  • Moderate to loud exposure to noise level.

Preferred Skills/Abilities

       Prior experience working within the cannabis industry

       Prior experience working with plants, trees, or in an agricultural environment
